Current Affairs was created for the Deep Oceans exhibition at the Queensland Museum for National Science Week. The series was shown in an exhibition called Café Scientifique: Underwater Wanderlust at the Queensland Museum from 18 August – 31 October 2014.
The ocean is a place where reality and allegory converge. In Current Affairs (2014), I try to replicate the ocean’s dual nature in human experience. The overlapping of the materials may replicate waves while a human body assumes gestures through them. In this sense, the work can cast the ocean as both a literal and proverbial place for experience.
